COTUIT HALL: NEW THINKING

Welcome to the online community page for Cotuit Hall, featuring our proposals for the re-development of the school.

Following our consultation in May last year we have been progressing our plans and have now submitted our planning application to Oxford City Council.

Over the past nine months we have been reviewing our plans in light of the feedback we have had from the public consultation and our pre-application discussions with Council Officers.
Last year’s consultation event was helpful to us in shaping our final scheme for submission. We had over 50 responses to our proposals, and while most people were supportive of our plans, a few issues were highlighted.

Our design team has been working hard to address the concerns raised, notably around noise, overlooking, and the impact on Pullens Lane, and we are confident that they have succeeded in addressing them.

The submitted planning application provides for:

• demolition of the single storey lecture hall and refectory buildings replaced with single storey connecting buildings to provide an internal corridor linking the buildings on site.
• new classrooms, communal spaces, and teaching accommodation for 300 students
• a new accommodation block in the west of site centred around an enclosed courtyard which will see the overall number of student bedrooms increase from 92 to 113.

There will also be improvements to the retained buildings, including exterior enhancements to Cotuit Hall and the introduction of screening to the Marcus Lower and Brewer buildings which will support climbing plants to better integrate the blocks into the surrounding landscape.
